Preliminary Design (Structural) Detail Design (Structural) Executive Design (Structural) | Italy – Rome, San Lorenzo district | The Student Hotel |
The Student Hotel project in the San Lorenzo district (Rome) is part of an urban regeneration program that includes new construction, a redevelopment of the existing one, and the creation of green space. In detail, three interventions are planned:
BUILDING A
Concerns the redevelopment of an existing building, previously used for offices.
The functional conversion includes a hostel, co-working spaces, a coffee bar and access to two panoramic terraces.
BUILDING B
The industrial structure will be consolidated and seismically adjusted, to offer spaces for cultural events and initiatives. Part of the roof will be made practicable and used as a lounge bar area. A newly built staircase will allow access to the existing one, revealing the reinforced concrete frame. The mezzanine floor, accessible from the ramps and stairs, will include a bar with service-connected to the terrace, an auditorium, a series of exhibition rooms for temporary and permanent exhibitions, dedicated to the history of the place, a winter garden and a garden defined by one patio space.
BUILDING C
The new building will be developed on six floors, with a practicable terrace on the roof, and will include 439 rooms, distributed between the Hotel, the Student Hall and independent apartments on the sixth floor. The ground floor and part of the basement
will house common areas for students and hotel guests, including kitchens, study rooms, play areas, relaxation areas, bicycle parking and a bar-restaurant. There is also a gym with swimming pool.
